# Payments Overview

**In this payments section we will review the basics that need to be in place for partners to transact in the Travel Ledger platform.**

The first step of configuring payment settings is the **payment service configuration** - setting up the payment service you wish to use between partners. 

Once a payment service has been configured, you can move on to focus on [**Commercial Link Creation**](/managing-your-partners/commercial-link-creation.md)**.** A commercial link must first have 3 key elements in place before it can be created:
